We're Home!

We were released on Tuesday late afternoon to take our Symi home! She is on 5 different medications and a specialty formula that costs $65 for a 14 oz can! But putting it all together she is eating again. And she was eating enough to keep herself hydrated and maintaining her weight. So they sent us home.

Dane wanted to put a sign on our front door that says "Pharmacy". Seeing how between me and the kids we are all on 10 different medicines! Wow! Anyways, we are so glad to be home. We have to keep a constant record of her eating habits and medications. These last few days have been rough and hard to remember everything. But I'm sloooooowwwwllllyy, starting to remember.

She is acting SO much better and really is such a happy baby! She is trying to roll around more and more. And reach for everything. Then try to get it to her mouth as quickly as possible. She has been squealing, giggling, and jabbering so much! It's so nice to see after so long of not having her happy. When she and Ben saw each other for the first time in almost a week, Symi could not stop smiling! And Ben didn't want to leave her side! I as a Mom melted to see how attached they are to each other and how much they really care for each other too. It's amazing that even though they are so young they already have such a bond!

The only thing that she's still struggling with is sleep. She really has a hard time at nights and Dane and I take turns with her. Last night on my shift she pooped, and then was up for 2 hours straight. We had a good time together. Her being fussy and me walking back and forth with her until she fell asleep. Then I quietly laid her in her bed, kissed her cheek, and listened to her sign quietly as she fell into a deeper sleep. I'm so blessed to have such wonderful children. Despite all the health problems they have, it's not so bad. I love them both so much!

We also wanted to say a special Thank You to everyone who participated in our fast for Symi. We have a strong testimony now as we watched miracles and blessings happen from fasting with such faith. The Dr's didn't think we'd leave for a long while. They were so shocked when she made such a HUGE and quick turn around. Going from being so sick to being so well! We are truely blessed.

Hope that you all had a wonderful and Merry Christmas this year!

Today

Well today started off looking rough and bad.

Last night Symi struggled through the feeding through the tube. She was sleeping pretty good though. Really fussy and upset. It took them a few hours to console her enough to go back to sleep.

This morning we started off with a Swallow study. They x-rayed her while they were having her swallow barium. She LOVED the barium and kept drinking and drinking and wanting MORE!! After we came back she accepted a 3 oz bottle and then crashed and slept hard for a few hours. We haven't seen either of these 2 things since we've arrived! Huge steps! After the swallow study was done we talked with a GI specialist. She changed up the meds a bit and put her on a specially made formula from the pharmacy. Miracle #1 she ate it and has been eating it ever since this afternoon!!!! We were able to take her off her IV fluid too and hope that if she can continue to eat on her own we will go home soon.

Today had its rough moments. But so many Big Steps today that we didn't know when we'd see them! We are so happy and grateful to all those who fasted and prayed for our little Symi and family yesterday!! I cannot thank you enough. We are seeing the blessings and feeling the strength as parents. Thank you.

So we're hoping for a wonderful day tomorrow! I'll try to keep you posted!

Update

Symi has been having a pretty rough day. And according to the Dr's tomorrow is going to be really tough. But hopefully we'll start to see some results and answers. I guess I'm just tired of sitting and waiting. So it's nice for me to see them really start to take some action.

Today she was started on a feeding tube that was place through her nose into her stomach. They started the feedings and immediantly she start to scream. Not fun at all. She was very upset for almost 2 hours after she ate too. Very fussy today and could not get comfortable. Same results happened when they tried to feed her a second time today.

I needed a break. Found a quiet hall to myself and bawled. I was starting to feel better. When a woman approached me and informed me that we were neighbors. She was right across the hallway with her daughter. She asked if we were alright because it seemed like we were sure having a rough day with Symi. I started to bawl again. I was thinking today that no one in this hospital seems to really care or take as much concern about Symi as Dane and I have been. So after we spoke for a moment. I felt much better. She kindly asked if she could give me a hug. Here we were instructed not to touch each other. As it can cause disease and sickness to quickly spread. I sigh really big and said yes. Then started to bawl all over again. She said," You know sometimes it's really tough in here. And all you need is someone to wrap their arms around you." She was so right.

Tomorrow they want to start a more aggressive approach to this. They were talking about doing an Endoscopy on her. We were doing this last year with Ben so it wasn't anything new to us. Other than she's the age where she cannot be awake. She has to be put under. That's so hard to hear. I don't know if they really will do it. We've been hearing for days of different things that they want to do and nothing has happened according to "the plan". So everyday is an annoying waiting game. Now after 3 days they said," We know that your daughter is really having a hard time and that something more serious is going on." Really! Are you kidding me?! I've been telling you people this ever since we walking into the ER on Christmas Eve and you're now telling me that you've finally hear what I've said!! Wow. Someone needs to see an ear Dr. Anyways, I've been super frustrated and now and seeing a light at the end of a long tunnel.

I don't know how long we will be here for. They said that they won't release her until she can eat on her own, maitain her weight, and keep herself hydrated enough that she doesn't require an IV. So I'm sure we'll be here for a long while.

Primary Children's

We were admitted into Primary Children's for Symi on Christmas Eve.

She is struggling to eat. Infact she hasn't eaten since 4am. I don't have time to say much. So I'll be breif. She's not doing well. Loosing weight, struggling to eat, uncomfortable constantly, and starting to now sleep well.

Our plea. Tomorrow we are fasting for Symi. We are fasting to recieve inspiration for the Dr's. That they might know what is going on with her and how to help her. Please keep our small family in your prayers. We need them. We feel their strength and guidance.

It's tough, but we are trying to keep ourselves together.

I'll try to post as often as I can, but I can't promise you that it will be every day.

Symi Update

Ok so today's been a long, LOOOONNNNNGGGGG day!

Symi was very fussy last night and didn't sleep well. Neither did I. I truly felt like a yo-yo hitting the bed over and over last night only to jump back up to take care of Symi. At least Ben slept through the night!

This morning she wasn't eating well again. I fed her around 6:30 am last and then tried over and over again today for her to eat again. No success. She napped horribly today and just wasn't doing well. This afternoon she really got fussy and started screaming all over again. I called Dane and asked him to come straight home. We collected ourselves, finally found a babysitter for Ben (julie you are awesome! A HUGE Thank you to you!). And headed to the Dr's office. He was very concerned. He wanted to do just a simple x-ray to see if she was constipated. So we did. She's not constipated at all. So why is she going from being happy to screaming and not eating or sleeping? Well we just don't know. If it happens again our Dr has instructed us to head straight to Primary Children's Hospital. Hopefully for answers. He is concerned about her and wants to make sure that we are doing what's best for her. But he doesn't know what else to do.

So far she's finally drank a bottle and fell asleep on the way home. A huge relief!!! Hopefully it's not another long night. I can only yo-yo for so long!?

Keep us in your prayers. We need them.

Primary Children's

We returned last night and I was going to write. But Symi was restless and fussy. So I spent my time with her instead.

We went to Primary Children's Hospital yesterday for an Upper GI on Symi. We've already done this test on Ben so sad to say but it wasn't new. What happens is they get the child to drink barium then they take several pictures while it's going down watching for different things while she drinks. Well she drank 1/2 an oz. They wanted 4-5 oz in for the test. They gave us the biggest syringe I've ever seen and sent us back to the waiting room to see if we couldn't syringe it down her throat. She took a few more oz and then just started spitting it all out. So we finally put a tube down her nose and injected the rest into her stomach. She was a trooper until they put it down her nose. She got really stuburn and MAD!! wow! Anyways, the tube wasn't even in there for a minute. They got the stuff in. Took the tube out. Took several images. And said, "We don't know why you are here? Everything looks normal and just fine." We'll send the images and results back to your Dr. They sent us home to watch her and make sure that she doesn't throw up the barium and that it comes out the other end. And to keep her well hydrated

We went back to my sister-in-laws house and spent the afternoon there waiting for it to digest. We ate some lunch. Dane and I took naps. Then we packed up and headed back on the road.

When we got home I called the Dr and asked if he'd gotten the images that we sent. He look them up and said yes. I asked him why we went down there on such an urgent matter because everything looked so normal. He said that he and the Gastroenterologist wanted to know if her anatomy was backwards. (meaning that her organs were place opposite of what they should be) If she did, there can be lots of complications with that. Our Dr and the Gastro Dr both wanted us to be at Primary's for the test in case if they need to admit us and start correcting the deformalities if there were any. He said that we went down there not knowing because he didn't want to scare us or cause us to panic because they didn't know yet.

So we are home now. Things are going just fine. Her anatomy is in the correct place and she is slowly falling back into her "normal". We are monitoring her closley to see if this "episode" happens again. If so we are instructed to return to the ER again. But for now we are to treat her like she's just constipated. They want her on some juice everyday and if that doesn't work than try a glycerin suppository. (oh fun) We're hoping for juice. So far things are moving along by themselves. She is sleeping a lot. But that's normal. We're still trying to find sleep so the nap the other day was very welcomed!

I hope that you are all having and will have a wonderful Christmas! Ours is one we'll always remember!

Symi in the ER

Just posting a little something different. Not pleasant, but different. oh boy.

Friday Symi started to get fussy and was just kind of grumpy. We took her to our Ward's Christmas party and she screamed the whole time. I just thought that it was too many people and that she was overwhelmed. That night she didn't sleep well and started to loose her appetite.

Saturday she was really really grumpy all day. Fussing on and off, occasionally screaming in fits, but grinning and smiling occasionally too. She really wasn't eating which is VERY odd for her. She wasn't sleeping either. By the afternoon she started screaming, arching her back, for hours!! I thought that she was getting an ear infection and was being very vocal about it. We decided to take her to the local instacare. We got there and immediately they sent us to the ER. The on call Dr though she'd scratched her eye. My thoughts were . . . She's bawling and screaming these last few days over an eye!? WHAT?!?!? They tested her eye and nothing was wrong. They continued to tell us that she might have intussuception. Where the intestines telescope into themselves causing TONS of pain. At one point we thought Ben had this too. So we proceeded to test her with a barium enema and something called real life x-ray. As the barium was being pushed into her we watcher her colan on the screen. It did NOT look normal?! Normall a colan starts at your bum wraps up around the left side, up under your diaphram, and then back around on your right side. Symi's was looping and swirling in all directions but the correct one! Her colan was very enlarged and seemed to have some fecal matter inside. After the exam was almost finished she started to scream even louder and suddenly had a large FAST bowel movement. She made quite the mess. But she started to feel much better. As we watched the bowel movement happen her colan realigned into place. They told us that this NEVER happens and that they can't explain how it happened while they were doing the barium enima. She started to really perk up! Wanting to eat, and finally crashed and started to rest, instead of fuss and scream. It was wonderful to see! We thought that she was doing better and they released us to go home. She started to decline a little when we brought her home a fever started to develop and she became quite uncomfortable again. She would not sleep! Dane and I took shifts throughout the night. I called the ER again because her fever reached 102.5 and was continuing to climb even on Tylenol. They wanted us to come back in. I didn't want to go yet because it was 3 in the morning and I wasn't too keen on the idea of waking Ben in the middle of the night to transport him to someone elses house and leaving him there. I asked the Dr if we could wait a while and see if it didn't break at our house first. He said that he'd really like us to come in but if we would like we could wait a half an hour first. Well I waited an hour and finally it broke to around 100. So we stayed home. Sunday she was restless and grumpy all day. You could just tell she didn't feel good. We kept up on her temp which fluctiated between 99 and 100. She would cat nap only if we were holding her. Dane and I took turns again. Holding her until our arms went numb and then changing. We finally got her to sleep deep when her fever broke agian last night around midnight. She's now at 97.7 and holding.

Today we went into the Dr's office for a follow up appointment. He was very concerned about what had happened over the last few days. He wanted to run some more test and contact a specialist at Primary Children's Hospital. He sent us home on strict instructions not to go anywhere. We waited for about and hour and got a call instructing us to head to Salt Lake immediantly for an Upper GI test. Ben could not be with us while we attend this test. I asked if this was an emergency. They said no but it was extremely urgent. We then schedule an appointment for tomorrow at 8 am. So we are heading down tonight. I hope to keep everyone posted and updated as we find out information.

Guess it wasn't an ear infection after all.

I was just telling Dane how grateful I was that we were spending our Christmas home this year and not traveling back and forth to Primary Children's Hospital. I should have bit my tough or knocked on wood. Because here we go again with #2.
Please keep us in your prayers.

I promised . . .

. . . . that I would post pictures of them playing under her "Hanging Gym". There are ones right when it happened and she was so tiny. Then there are some from just the other day. I find them under there together a lot!

Baby Girl

In our jammies!

Check out all my crazy hair!

Bathing Beauty!
(She doesn't like baths. Especially in the sink.)

Dane was rubbing under her chin and she went limp and totally relaxed!

Just Us

Sad. But this is what happens a lot when Dane tries to hold Symi.

Human Jungle Gym.

Watch Out!! It's Captain Hook!
(He told that to me himself.)

So we've been playing Peter Pan at our house lately. Here is the Family "Peter Pan Stance"!

Ben's just too cute in this one.

This is Symi at 3 months old.

Happy Halloween

Our pumpkins. Mine. Dane. Symi. Ben.

Our little chili pepper. Some "Hot Stuff"!!

Posing with Daddy

"Hot Stuff" with Superman!
(Ben kept asking when we could just GO!! This was the last picture we took before we left.)

We could hardly get a picture of her because she was wiggling and moving around so much. Most of them ended up blurry like this one.

Our little Superman!
(Yes I know he had 2 buckets/bags. We just went to Carl's Jr for lunch and he insisted on taking both. But we barely filled the pumpkin.)

Can you tell he was WAY excited!?

Do they look alike?

Grateful

23. I am thankful for warm homemade dinners. (We haven't seen them much since Lady Bug was born!?) Tough to make dinner at a specific time with a preschooler and a new born all by yourself! I sure miss Papa's help and being home.

22. I am thankful for Family and to be able to see them soon and share our newest addition with everyone!

21. I am thankful that even though I've been sick Papa has been a HUGE help whenever he's been home. I am thankful that Buddy has been content watching movies and playing on my bed while I try to rest/sleep when Lady Bug's napping.

Small Update

So things are getting better. An update as to where we are now. Ben is starting to potty train. Yes that means that things are going much better for Symi and I that I can help Ben learn how to go potty! So far so good! I'm so glad that he's learning and so proud of himself. It sure is neat for me to see him learning and growing so much.

Symi is growing, gaining weight and healthy! She is doing so well now. I've been breastfeeding her as much as possible and supplementing with formula. My milk seems to be slowly going away. Which is good and bad. We've reduced it enough that she can now feed off me and is getting what she needs. So I am no longer making her sick. But now I'm not making enough. It's a cruel irony but none the less, a beautiful learning process. So I am now pumping to get my milk to come back. But not too much as to over stimulate and cause the same problem to develop again. Our new goal is to completely breastfeed her by Christmas! We'll let you know if we get there. Thank you for all your kind comments, thoughts, prayers, and emails. They have meant so much to me. I'm so sorry that I don't have fun pictures to look at my computer doesn't want to upload and pictures. Which makes me really sad because I'd love to have you see how well Symi is doing!

Ben and Symi are starting to interact. Every time Ben walks by Symi stops crying and reaches for him. Trying to get him to come closer. Although she is a girl and sometimes cries when he puts a toy too close to her face or shakes a rattle viciously 2 inches from her nose. But overall they are so cute to watch. You can tell that when Dane and Ben wrestle on the floor. She wiggles and squirms so much. It's almost like she's trying to get down there with them, but her infant body isn't developed enough to allow her the fun time of wrestling just yet. She smiles and coos at them for now.

Just thought I'd send you an update and let you know that even though it's been a while since I've posted last we are doing well!

I am glad for Many things . . .

1. I am thankful for my wonderful, amazing, kind, thoughtful, and loving husband!
2. I am thankful for my 2 wonderful kids!
3. I am thankful for our little home.
4. I am thankful for extended family that love me so much!
5. I am thankful for food, water, and treats!
6. I am thankful for (I know this may sound awful) but toilets and toilet paper!!!!
7. I am thankful for another vehicle to help us get around.
8. I am thankful for my Mr.'s opportunity to Student Teach.
9. I am thankful to be able to stay at home and take care of my children.
10. I am thankful for The Church of Jesus Christ and my testimony of it.

I am catching up on all the days that I've missed this month. Each day I hope to post something new that I am grateful/thankful for!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Prayers

Tonight as I tucked Ben into bed he told me that he was very scared. He asked me to say a prayer for him to help him sleep. I quickly said one and told him that he needed to go to bed. He asked me softly,"Mommy could you stay and I say a prayer now?". My heart melted. "Sure."
Here's Ben's prayer.

"Heavenly Father, Please help me to be brave and not to be scared. Send me an angel to protect me tonight and Mommy, and Daddy, and Symi. Please help Daddy to get a job so that he can be home to play with me. I really miss him and cry a lot too. Thank you for Daddy to have a job right now. He's do's a good job. Help people who are sick. They need you. Please help me to be brave I really am scared tonight. I don't like the Halloween. Please help my Daddy's job to come soon. In Jesus Christ, Amen."

(Ben doesn't like Halloween. It really scares him a lot! He never wants to go down any Halloween isles in the store. He always covers his eyes when we enter a store that's decorated for Halloween. But he always notices the Christmas stuff that comes out shortly before Halloween. He absolutely LOVES Christmas and has been asking me to play Christmas music for him to feel better. He also misses his Daddy very much. Dane works 2 jobs and is gone from the wee hours in the morning until way late at night. Coming home briefly to eat dinner and get on the road again. It's rough to have him be gone more than he's ever been gone. Ben just wants him to be home. I know his prayers are heard.)

Update

I've been working with my Dr and he thinks that we can now start to breastfeed Symi again. I now have to work my milk back into a level that she can handle. So far I'm feeding her a few times a day and it feels so good. I feel like a Mom again and that I'm doing my part to give her the best. I just hope and pray that my milk is still good and that she's getting both the foremilk and the hindmilk. Right now things are starting to settle down. It's been 2 weeks and already I'm exhausted. It's been rough. Trying to let go, accepting it, and now embracing it again. It's a whole wave of emotions that come in a forceful abundance!

We are starting to get into a routine and figure things out. You'd think that after your baby turns 2 months old you'd have things going smoothly again! But no, it feels like we are starting over again. At least I feel like we are. I was looking at our pictures that I've taken of her and Ben since she was born. I have very few. I guess I was just trying to survive. Now I'm crying because I'll never get those moment back with Symi and she's already no longer a newborn. My heart aches because I want to remember. But I can't.

When I close my minds eye to see. I remember a screaming baby that throws up constantly. Nurses ever hour. A sad little boy who just wants his Mommy back. A husband who seem frustrated that the house is a wreck and the kids always seem to still be jammies and crying when he gets home. Dinner, well where do you want to go eat. I have coupons for McDonalds or Burger King? Dishes pile sky high. The house is filthy and I can't seem to find time between children to tackle the mountain. I see a few moments that are sweet and I just soak them up like a desperate sponge!

For instance I laid Symi under her toy that dangles different things from above. Ben was patiently standing by it admiring all the toys. I stepped out of the room for a moment to take care of something when I came back. I found both of them under the toy and Ben explaining to her what each one was. She was so excited and kept kicking her legs and cooing at him. Ben noticed that I'd returned and suddenly was trying to get out. I told him that he was just fine and that he could play with his sister. He went back under and asked if I wanted to join. Why not. They may never fit under there together again.

Here's another one. The kids and I were visiting Dane at the Seminary Building. Symi was hungry so I fed her a bottle at the time. She didn't finish and start to make all sorts of gagging and grunting noises. I was worried that she was choking. So I sat her up to help. Well low and behold something started oozing out her side and all the way down my leg. My blue jeans were covered in yellow baby poo!? And the warm ooze was starting to leak through. Dane sat there and looked at me and said,"Oh! That's a lot!" Then he sat there for a while longer and started laughing. I was a little upset because I didn't find it funny. It had been a long day with the kids and this was my cherry on top. Although after it was all cleaned up and done. I too was laughing as we were talking about it again. I won't ever get that moment back again. Why be mad? Or upset? Just laugh and love it no matter what. Come what may and love it!

So here's my ramble for the next few weeks, maybe. Hopefully our computer will cooperate with me and allow me to post the few pictures that I've got on my camera. I'm sure you'll enjoy them a whole lot better than me thoughts.

I'm Grateful

I guess when all is looking down on you it's time to look up. So I decided that I need to write all the small things I'm grateful for right now.

I'm grateful for . . .
1. Little moments when Symi is sleeping and I'm able to spend some one on one time with Ben.
2. A husband who did the dishes for me this morning because he knew they needed to be done.
3. A little baby girl who is finally sleeping peacefully right now.
4. A patient son who always says,"Mommy, I forgive you." when I've said something unkind in a stressful moment.
5. These words also follow,"Oh Mommy do you know I just love you!"
6. Quiet moments at night when I can kneel and ask for help for just a little while longer.
7. Sleep.
8. Freshly bathed baby that smells so good.
9. The sunshine that seems to melt everything away as I sit outside with a bawling baby so that a little boy can enjoy playing in the sandbox for 5 more minutes.
10. Patience.
11. Courage to keep going.
12. Unconditional love for my baby, no matter how many hours I've been up at night with her screaming and crying.
13. Being able to make dinner!
14. Watching my husband quietly take Ben away even if that means he'll be late for work, again.
15. Walking along the River Walk and breathing deep.
16. Smiling even though I'm covered in baby puke for the 3rd time today.
17. Realizing that the floor really needs to be vacuumed. But playing with my 3 year old on the dirty floor anyways. The floor will be dirty tomorrow,(and possibly the next day) but Ben will never be this age again.
18. Grateful that a baby likes noise and vibration so laundry is all caught up!
19. That Autumn is coming! (Can you smell it? Hmmmmmmm)
20. That Dane has a job and can provide for our family at this time in the world.

Ok I feel much better. Now I can try to conquer today, even if I don't get a shower.

Over Supply Syndrome + Overactive Let Down = Hard to Bare

I know that some of you may not understand. I also know that this is unusual for me to post something like this. But I guess I really just need to vent. And through blogging I can.

Yesterday I was diagnosed with 2 rare disorders. First, is Over Supply Syndrome, which means I make too much milk that my infant can't keep up with it. No matter how much she nurses I will always make too much for her. Second, Overactive Let Down. This doesn't mean that I'm disappointed all the time. It means that I can experience a milk "let down" 4-5 times in a nursing period. So instead of her nursing off of me she pinches the nipple between her gums and tries to swallow as fast and as much as she can without drowning. Literally! I always thought that my nursing experience was strange and that hopefully she would grow into and get better.

Typically women with this will have fat babies that gain weight quickly and grow very fast! Then after 2-3 months the baby stops growing, stops gaining weight, and quickly develops "Failer to Thrive".

So what is the solution.

Stop nursing baby.

I've already noticed signs that Symi wasn't doing well. We just thought that she had Acid Reflux like Ben. Which is what commonly happens is that they are misdiagnosed. Poor Symi was having green slimy stools with a sore red bottom. She would choke and pull away all the time while I was feeding her. Screaming and crying in between. Passing gas all the time and burping like an adult. She was NEVER satisfied for very long and would want to be fed every hour. This was a night mare for me because sleep seemed to be impossible. I was neglecting Ben all the time to fulfill Symi's nursing needs and diaper changes. I felt like a horrible mother, not being able to handle having 2 kids. I didn't know how mothers with more do it. I felt like a failure and that I was trying to give my baby the best. When in reality my breast milk was making her sick and unhealthy. This is a rare disorder and not many women have to deal with this. Let me tell you. I was told yesterday and I'm still struggling with the fact that I'm making my baby sick.

So now here's the cherry to top it off. Ben came up to me today and asked me this,"Mommy, when will I get to have you back? Daddy goes to work and Symi needs to eat. When can I have a turn?"
Hot tears.
Sobbing.
Holding both babies while we all cry.
I guess the last few days I keep asking Ben to go play somewhere because the screaming baby is overwhelming me. The toddler asking me for something while I'm trying to nurse is almost unbearable. I guess I've felt like a "single mother" ever since I've had Symi. Dane goes to work in the morning before the sun comes up. Then he's Student Teaching in the morning. Then he's home briefly for dinner and rushes off to work at night. Coming home in the late evenings. Just in time to collapse in bed. I stay at home and try to tackle the house work, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, administer to the sick children, and the list goes on. I guess I've just had a breaking moment tonight and needed a place to vent.

What's my point. Well I stopped nursing my baby yesterday and cried because I learned something. I kept praying that I would have a good and healthy baby so that I could cope at this "Season" of our lives. Knowing that I would be doing this alone. I kept wondering why he hadn't heard my prayers. When the Holy Ghost spoke to me and bore witness. I have to give up something that I want so bad, for something greater for Symi, Ben, Dane and I. Something that I've desired to do for so long. And now I've been told that I can't anymore. I have to put away my selfish wants to give my family something of greater value. I'm grateful that Heavenly Father hears and answers prayers. Not in the way that I thought it should be done. But in a way that tender mercies can come flowing into my home and bless my little family. I know that our "test" right now seem so small to so many of you. But they are ours right now and are so real. I guess I'm learning to lean more on my Savior and pray harder than I've ever done before. I know I can't do this alone.

It's officail (Part 2)

Ben hasn't needed his pacifiers in his mouth since he was about 18 months. We cut off the ends and only gave them to him at nights. So he would hold them in his hands but never in his mouth. We thought he was going to take them with him to college so that he could sleep! So we're so happy and grateful that he was very willing and able to let them go!

It's official!

The "Mee-Mee's" have officially been laid to rest! Ben no longer sleeps with them in his hands anymore! He threw away his last one the other night and has been doing just fine! We re so proud of him! He's been attached to those since birth!

New Gun

Before Symantha was born I ordered a new manual pump that I can take with me everywhere. I was unpacking it when it arrived and Ben was watching intently. Finally he asked me.

Ben: Mommy, I want to shoot your gun.

Me: Um . . . NO! This is not a gun. And it's not a toy to play with. Please leave it alone!

A few days later I found him standing by the window with my "Gun" shooting the birds. At least he's an innocent boy!

BURP. . . . what!?

Ben is such a good helper. He loves to help pat Symi's back to burp her after I have fed her. This is the conversation that went down.

Ben: Come on Symi burp.

Symi: (Well she farted really loud)

Ben: Mom, was that a fart!?

Me: Yes. She farted Ben.

Ben: Symi that's the wrong end!

What do you find after lunch time?

After I had cleaned up lunch I ventured upstairs to see why everyone else was so quiet. This is what I found! They are all so cute, I just love them all so much.

I guess it's hard work having a baby!

Welcome to our World!

Welcome to Symantha Lynn Hepworth! Born on July 28, 2009 at 12:54 pm. Weighing in at 7lbs 7oz and 20 inches long. She came out crying and full of life, but quickly calmed down once she heard her Daddy's voice. I'm only posting a few pictures for now. I will tell the "Labor Story" next time. We are both doing well and are happy to be home and getting into a groove. So far she is a great eater and sleeper! She is such a joy! Ben is always watching over her, talking to her, and sharing EVERYTHING he has with her. (example: toys, food, sippy cup, blankies, "mee-mee's") He loves talking to her and holding her hands. Ben is also constantly complimenting her on her cute clothes, pretty eyes, and saying how cute or beautiful she is. We hope you enjoy the pictures! There will be more coming soon.

Getting Started!

Proud, excited, and giddy Daddy!
